The most basic type of support grid runs front-to-back over a stage area, but there are many more uses for internally wired and raise and lower grids. These all provide a flexible platform to support lighting, tracks and curtains, they can also be internally wired with sockets for connecting lanterns, and may even double as walkways. Grids can be reached using access equipment from low level, or the entire grid can lower. Grids, of one type or another, are commonly found in school halls, drama studios, theatres, dance studios, TV and photographic studios.
