China Fleet Country Club, HM Naval Base, Plymouth

To divide this sports hall, ASG designed and installed a 20 metre wide x 9 metre high mural comprising of three separate flame proofed cloths on aluminium rollers operated via a system of high level pulleys from three separate self-sustaining manual hand winches, to enable the cloths to be rolled up and down. Electric operation can be provided as an alternative to a manual system. The coloured mural was painted by our design artist on white canvas from a drawing provided by the client. The majority of painting was completed in our works with final finishing on site to ensure the correct alignment was achieved.

This was a small concert hall and unusual in that it was for a recording company, therefore it was used to record classical music as well as for performance use. ASG installed raise and lower gear, also the lighting and control systems.

ASG are often requested to divide very large areas, this is achieved with the provision of manual or electrically operated stage tracks and curtains, as can be seen here where an aircraft hangar was divided to form five separate bays for containing fumes, paint spray, noise and fire hazard. The curtains had to comply with stringent requirements by the RAF and the Department of the Environment. Manual control of the track is from large wall mounted hand winches.
