These are just a few of the many safety curtain projects carried
out by ASG, many of which also formed part of major stage refurbishment schemes,
and all of which can divide the stage from the auditorium within 30-seconds
in the event of a fire. The steel frames of rigid safety curtains are counterweighted
and usually covered with asbestos-free flame proofed fabric on the face, rated
to at least 1-hour fire integrity, which can also be painted if needed. Roller
safety curtains use the same type of fabric, but operate similar to a large
roller blind for when flying height is restricted, although a 2-piece rigid
curtain can also be used. All safety curtains have side guides, smoke seals,
a hoist, control points and usually a drencher system. We have replaced numerous
old manual hoists with electrically operated systems, and also replace asbestos
cloths with modern asbestos-free equivalents. If required we can arrange for
the asbestos removal also, obviously complying with all relevant regulations.
